The Opportunity: 

The PCI Cards squad is responsible for the full lifecycle of payment cards, covering issuing, embossing, status management, and PCI compliance processes. We support debit, credit, physical, and virtual card products. Our team works closely with the Product organization, requiring a deep understanding of the platform. On a daily basis, we collaborate on new features, enhancements, maintenance, and problem‑solving to ensure a seamless and secure card experience. 

We operate directly within the critical payment authorization flow, handling complex business rules, high‑availability systems, and performance‑sensitive workloads. We are a backend‑focused team, and our primary technology stack includes Groovy, Golang, and AWS services such as DynamoDB, SQS, and Aurora.   

The Work itself: 

  • Development and maintenance of projects in Java / Groovy / Golang with deployment on AWS.  
  • Proactively contributes to the betterment of other engineers in the company, through sponsoring, mentoring, and providing constructive feedback.  
  • Consistently leads the squad to good outcomes from a technical perspective, ensuring appropriate engineering decisions are made to factor in technical debt, systems design, stability/reliability, monitoring/observability, and business needs.  
  • Execution of Terraform to create/remove new resources on AWS.  
  • Monitoring applications through logs/metrics 
  • Participation in technical analysis with product team requirements. 
  • Keeps up with emerging technology trends and contributes insights to squad-level strategic discussions. 
  • Regularly recognized for delivering high-quality, impactful technical solutions within their team and across collectives. 

This is a remote position. A remote position does not require job duties be performed within proximity of a Visa office location. Remote positions may be required to be present at a Visa office with scheduled notice.
