The people here at Apple don’t just build products — they create the kind of wonder that’s revolutionized entire industries. It’s the diversity of those people and their ideas that encourages the innovation that runs through everything we do, from amazing technology to industry-leading environmental efforts. Join Apple, and help us leave the world better than we found it. Are you up for the challenge? Apple’s Hardware Test Engineering group is looking for a Mechanical Design Engineering Intern with prior internship/educational experience, proficiency and curiosity about mechanical design, strong communication and technical leadership skills. You will brainstorm, design, develop and characterize metrology equipment used to calibrate and test Apple’s new groundbreaking technology and products. Your design work could range from lab scale systems-- understanding and characterizing tool capability at sub-micron mechanical tolerances, to developing automated mass-production measurement tools, where balancing the engineering tradeoffs between precision, costs, lead-time and efficiency is needed. With excellent diversity of the problem space, you will rely on your engineering background to design the efficient solution for the problem at hand, leaning on the fundamentals of materials science, structural and thermal analysis, machinery design, automation and manufacturing processes. You will work collaboratively with a creative and diverse team of authority engineers from all disciplines including instrumentation, core technology, product design and operations teams developing innovative measurement systems for Apple.
