We architect, build, and maintain secure and reliable systems and networks to support the business functionality that Visa provides to payment industry partners.
As Site Database Reliability Engineers on the Product Reliability Engineering (PRE) Tech team, we’re passionate about providing an excellent developer experience that improves the efficiency and productivity of our engineers. We build and run tools and systems that Visa's engineers use every day to iterate, test, and deploy their code and support database servers such as DB2 relational databases, NoSQL Database Technologies, MSSQL, Postgres and MySQL.
We are looking for an individual who can appreciate and understand software at a multidisciplinary level and can use this knowledge to help craft our technical direction, from distributed computing, large-scale system design, artificial intelligence, UI design and mobile, and more.
Essential Functions:-
Some job duties and projects could include:
- Conduct daily code deployments to production environments.
- Serve as the initial point of contact for technical issues related to tier 1 applications.
- Perform routine tasks such as backups, patching, and upgrades to maintain database health.
- Use tools like Scalable and Ansible Enterprise to automate database tasks and configurations.
- Develop dashboards for monitoring database anomalies both predictively and reactively.
- Collaborate on project plans to ensure objectives and timelines are met.
- Analyze business requirements and architect a solution that is robust and scalable along with providing clear technical documentation and presenting findings via informative presentations
- Monitor database performance, focusing on metrics like CPU usage, query execution time, and replication latency.
- Develop and implement performance monitoring dashboards using tools like Grafana, Prometheus, and Splunk.
- Manage code releases into CAS (test) and PROD environments in collaboration with Product Development.
- Support deployments for new and existing services and features using CI CD tools like Liquibase and Jenkins.
- Work closely with diverse teams such as Product Development and Engineering.
This is a hybrid position. Expectation of days in office will be confirmed by your hiring manager.
