Microsoft European Government Affairs is seeking a Brussels-based Director to join its Strategic Relations team, with a focus on transatlantic relations and trade policy. Microsoft seeks to be a trusted partner to Europe in advancing digital stability and economic resilience, as part of our mission to empower every person and organization on the planet to achieve more. The Strategic Relations team builds trusted relationships with European and transatlantic decision-makers to foster a favourable political and regulatory environment for Microsoft’s business and to advance our policy priorities.

The successful candidate will help shape our engagement strategy in transatlantic digital cooperation and trade policy, particularly in the context of evolving EU-U.S. relations. The role will also support Microsoft’s engagement on sanctions-related issues, ensuring alignment with EU and transatlantic policy developments. This includes identifying and engaging with the right stakeholders and helping to articulate Microsoft’s compliance posture and operational resilience in response to evolving geopolitical dynamics.

At a time of geopolitical volatility, this role will be instrumental in working together with the General Manager, Strategic Relations and the broader Strategic Relations team and across EGA to develop a strategy that positions Microsoft as a transatlantic bridge builder and a force for good in the development and deployment of AI. The candidate will also work closely with our colleagues in Member State capitals and in the U.S. to ensure an aligned approach and narrative on these issues.

The ideal candidate will be a dynamic communicator with a strong political network, who can navigate today’s geopolitical environment and advise the broader European Government Affairs team on relevant actions and initiatives. He or she should have significant experience working with the European institutions, international organisations and an ability to work across teams at Microsoft. We are looking for someone with strong analytical and communications skills, who can build trust with different audiences. He or she should have a relevant academic or professional background in trade policy, government affairs, economics and/or political science.
